3D model of Titanic being made!
The Titanic wreck has never been mapped. Although parts of the shipwreck are understood, images of the surrounding wreckage are still unknown. To uncover the unknown, scientists have taken the initiative to create a three-dimensional (3D) model by collecting detailed photographic records of the wreckage of the Titanic.
For this purpose, detailed information of various objects under water is being collected through high-definition optical camera and two sensor scanners with special type of lights. Ivan Kovacs, head of the expedition's imaging program, said two remotely operated vehicles will be used to gather detailed information about the wreck around the Titanic.
He said, 'Through the camera system, millimeter resolution images can also be created. If the weather, computers, robots and cameras all work well, we will be able to collect the highest-quality digital images of the Titanic and other wrecks. We can literally count the grains of sand. A robotic vehicle magnetometer is being used for the first time on Titanic. This device will detect all metal objects in the wreckage.'
