Another earthquake was felt in Bangladesh on Saturday at 2:27 p.m. The tremor, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, originated in Monirampur upazila of Jashore.

According to the Seismic Observation and Research Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the epicenter was located in Monirampur, about 157 kilometers southwest of the capital, Dhaka.

Md. Rubaiyat Kabir, Acting Officer of the Seismic Observation and Research Center, said, “This was a low-intensity earthquake. Its epicenter was in Monirampur itself. With this, a total of seven earthquakes have been recorded inside the country this year.

Earlier, on September 21, an earthquake was felt in Sylhet, with its epicenter in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj. That tremor measured 4.0 on the Richter scale. Bangladesh has long been at risk as an earthquake-prone country. Each year, multiple tremors occur in the country and its neighboring regions, often felt in Dhaka and other parts of the country. However, seismologists note that in recent times, the number of earthquakes originating within Bangladesh itself has been rising significantly.

According to data from the Seismic Observation and Research Center, between January 2024 and September 2025, a total of 126 earthquakes were felt across the country, of which 18 originated inside Bangladesh. Additionally, 12 earthquakes were recorded in 2024 alone.
