Bangladesh–US Bilateral Boost in Digital Dialogue
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, held a courtesy meeting with Tracy Ann Jacobson, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States to Bangladesh, at the office of the Assistant Adviser in the ICT Tower on Thursday.
The meeting was confirmed by the department’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Jasim Uddin.
During the discussion, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb urged American companies and international investors to invest in Bangladesh’s data centers, cloud services, and digital infrastructure. He also remarked that the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Development Project, supported by the World Bank, would commence soon.
Both sides exchanged views on the progress and prospects of Bangladesh’s ICT sector. They emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies, skills development, cybersecurity, and the growth of the startup ecosystem. The meeting also touched upon the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPO), data governance, and upgrading police communication systems.
The US Chargé d’Affaires praised Bangladesh’s digital transformation efforts and assured technological support and knowledge-sharing from the United States.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb highlighted the importance of international partnerships in positioning Bangladesh as a hub of technology and innovation.
The meeting was also attended by Shish Haydar Chowdhury, NDC, Secretary of the ICT Division; David Mu, Deputy Counselor for Political/Economic Affairs and Head of the Political Section at the US Embassy; and Commercial Counselor Paul Frost.
