Crowds Converge at Cable and Communication Expo 2025
The second day of the International Cable TV, Broadcasting and Communication (ICBC) Expo 2025 saw a vibrant turnout of visitors, turning the event into a lively hub of networking and technology exchange. Held at Hall No. 2 of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Friday, the public holiday contributed to the bustling atmosphere. The event drew together television channel owners, officials, employees, media professionals, cable operators, technology partners, importers, manufacturers, and sellers.
The expo is scheduled to conclude on Saturday with a cultural event, bringing the three-day gathering to a festive close.
A total of 96 exhibition booths have been set up by private television channels, domestic and international tech firms, and relevant importers and producers. Visitors explored the latest innovations in broadcast technology and learned how cable television is now being delivered directly to households via apps and set-top boxes, eliminating the need for antennas. Many attendees were seen taking selfies with TV presenters or beside branded logos of their favorite shows.
Young visitors showed particular interest in demonstrations of how a single broadband connection can deliver multiple services such as IP telephony and OTT-IPTV without incurring extra costs. Stall representatives expressed satisfaction with the turnout and engagement from potential clients. Chinese entrepreneurs were notably active throughout the day, making their presence felt across the exhibition floor. The stall of Bangladesh Satellite remained one of the major attractions, along with prominent internet service providers such as ICC Communication and Ayana Scope.
Participants were equally pleased to find telecom-grade cables, slicers, meters, and other products and services under one roof. The expo served as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to interact, hold meetings, and discuss potential business collaborations. Several attendees reportedly began drafting plans for joint ventures and new tech solutions on the spot.
Speaking about the event, ABM Saiful Hossain Sohel, President of the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB), said: “The expo was organized with the involvement of television owners, officials, media professionals, cable operators, tech-based partners, importers, producers, and vendors. Our primary goal is to digitize the sector fully, aiming to enhance TV owners’ revenues and safeguard cable operators’ businesses. If we can achieve full digitization, the government will also benefit from substantial tax revenues, potentially amounting to several billion taka annually.”
COAB’s Organizing Secretary Mahmudul Mamun added, “This year’s response has exceeded our expectations. Initially, we set a target of 100 units, which we later considered reducing to 80. However, we ended up hosting 96 booths in total.”
Organizers noted that this is the third time the expo is being held in Bangladesh, with the previous two editions taking place in 2007 and 2008. Compared to those early events, this year’s expo has seen a significant expansion in scale and scope, thanks to the emergence of new technologies.
