The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is set to vaccinate approximately 1.3 million children against typhoid as part of its “Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025.”

Speaking at a press conference held at the Gulshan Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday, October 8, DNCC’s Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury announced that the month-long campaign will run across 10 regions of DNCC from October 12 to November 13, covering 18 working days in total.

He said, “A total of 1,294,069 children — including 760,790 students from 2,181 educational institutions and 533,279 children from local communities — will receive the typhoid vaccine. All children aged between 9 and under 15 years, as well as students from pre-primary to ninth grade or equivalent levels, will receive a single dose of the vaccine free of cost.”

According to Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, vaccination in educational institutions will take place from October 12 to October 30 over 10 working days, excluding Fridays and public holidays. Additionally, permanent EPI (Expanded Programme on Immunization) centers will administer vaccines over 18 working days from October 13 to November 13, also excluding Fridays and public holidays.

Furthermore, from November 1 to November 13, vaccines will be available at satellite and outreach EPI centers. Each vaccination team will consist of two immunization workers and three volunteers. Sessions will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding Fridays and public holidays.

Brigadier General Chowdhury added that the campaign’s inauguration ceremony will be held at Mohammadpur Residential Model College in Dhaka, where DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz will attend as the chief guest.
