CUET Champions Change with ‘MIE Robolution 1.0’

Robots are increasingly transforming the global economy, job market, and social dynamics, and in many sectors, they have become vital partners to humans. However, human values and emotional intelligence remain equally essential, now and in the future, said Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Muttin Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). He made the remarks on May 8 (Thursday) while addressing the seminar Industry 4.0, held as part of MIE Robolution 1.0, organized by the Department of Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering (MIE) at CUET’s central auditorium.
“Although robots are replacing humans in mechanical and repetitive tasks, the shift in labor dynamics is opening new challenges and opportunities,” said Dr. Bhuiyan. “Workers must adapt to evolving technologies and acquire new skills. These changes do not represent a crisis alone, but also create space for fresh possibilities.”
He further noted, “In the near future, mechatronics engineers will have wide career prospects wherever automation is required. Industrial engineering is crucial across various professions and sectors due to its potential to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality. Mastering these skills enables professionals to make significant contributions to their organizations and enhances their career prospects. This expertise is in high demand and opens multiple career avenues including industrial engineering management, operations, supply chain management, process improvement consulting, and project management.”
The event’s special guest was Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of the Office of Research and Extension at CUET.
Keynote speakers included Professor Dr. Md. Rokonuzzaman from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Assistant Manager (Electrical) at BSRM, Md.
