An alleged Indian hacker group has threatened to carry out cyberattacks on Bangladeshi sites throughout the day on Tuesday. After the attack, they shared screenshots of several sites in their groups. The group also provided a link to check when the site was down. There, two private hospitals and a military and a broadband internet service provider claimed to have attacked the websites of the company.

Apart from this, the group also claimed to hit the websites of three other important government agencies. A screenshot of hacked emails, passwords, phone numbers, addresses and transactions has also been shared. A link to selling information on the dark web has also been added.

This claim was made in various social media groups including Telegram.

However, claiming that 'websites are secure', the Project Director of BGD e-GOV CIRT Saiful Islam Khan said that, ‘there is no reason to be afraid of hackers'. The ISPAB President Imdadul Haque urged to always be careful to keep the database secure with emphasis on the formation of industry CERT in each sector.

Similarly, this reporter found no evidence that the hackers had attacked the websites of two private hospitals and the Navy. He found the links were active at the time of writing this report.

In this regard, Engineer Saiful Alam Khan, Project Director of BGD e-GOV CIRT, said that cyberattacks can happen at any time. DDoS attacks were carried out on three sites today. The affected sites were activated shortly. So, there is no option but to be cautious about cyberattacks.

On August 30, a hacker group threatened a cyberattack on Bangladesh. Another announcement on September 3 threatened to carry out cyberattacks on January 26 as well. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology held a meeting with the concerned parties on September 12 about this. At this time, they advised important public and private organizations to be cautious.

Experts say that cyberattacks on public and private institutions are increasing. From August 15 to August 20, around 36 websites and networks were attacked by Indian hacker groups.

According to the information of BGD e-GOV CIRT, the hacker group had previously attacked more than 10 sites in the country on August 15 with prior threats. However, the government's cyber security agency is still not sure whether the group that has been threatening is based in India. The organization says everyone needs to be vigilant and work together in cyber security.
