Bangladesh's Budding Mathematicians Blaze at World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2025 in Bangkok

Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success at the finals of the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) 2025, securing 4 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze, and 4 merit medals on the global stage. For the first time, under the banner of Banglar Math, all 22 participating young mathematicians from Bangladesh earned a medal, marking an extraordinary debut performance.

The gold medalists include Arnab Ranjan Pal (Grade 4, Anandaniketan School and College), Ariya Intishar Chowdhury (Grade 5, Glenrich International School, Satarkul), Marzana Manha (Grade 7, SFX Green Herald School), and Md. Tahsin Islam (Grade 10, Cumilla Zilla School). Among them, Tahsin received the prestigious Star of World award for achieving the highest score.

Silver medals were awarded to Jasiya Rawjat (Mohammadpur Preparatory School), Rayed Farzad (Sunnydale School), Aryashreshta Ghosh (Holy Cross Girls' High School), Md. Abdul Al Hasib (Mirpur Bangla School and College), Ayyan Zaman (Glenrich International School), and Md. Rahim Hasan (O-level, Scholastica School).

The bronze medalists include Faizah Numa (Academia School), Rajorshi Saha (Ideal School and College), Rishan An Nafi (Dhaka Residential Model College), Muntaha Manha (Sunnydale School), Ahbab Julkifal Jahin (Rajshahi Collegiate School), Isham Wafidur Rahman (Sunnydale School), Saad Bin Ahmed (St. Gregory's High School and College), and Nahiyan Parin Ifa (RAJUK Uttara Model College).

Merit certificates were awarded to Gairik Pal (British Standard School), Mrinmoyee Ghosh (Holy Cross Girls' High School), Shawntika Das Megha (Khulna Collegiate Girls’ School), and Dewan Md. Sunan (Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College).

As part of their preparation, over 2,000 students participated in the nationwide selection process titled Banglar Math Excellency Championship 2025. The national round was held on May 30 at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), with around 400 participants. A final group of 100 winners were shortlisted, from which the 22-member national team was formed.

The WMI finals took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 25 to 28, where nearly 1,500 young math talents from 23 countries competed. The Bangladeshi delegation was led and mentored by Banglar Math co-founders Ashraful Al Shakur, Mahtab Hossain, and Ahmed Shahriar.
