UIU Unrest: Academic Activities Suspended Amid Mass Resignations

United International University (UIU) has announced the suspension of all academic activities starting Monday until further notice, in response to the resignation issue involving the head of the CSE department.
On Sunday night (April 27), the university's Registrar, Dr. Md. Zulfiqar Rahman, announced the decision through a notice posted on UIU's verified Facebook page.
The notice stated that due to the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, various department heads, and deans—totaling 11 key administrative officials—the university’s normal operations have been severely disrupted. In light of this situation, all academic activities will remain suspended from Monday until further announcements.
The university authorities further noted that both academic and administrative activities will remain halted until new appointments are made to replace the resigning Vice-Chancellor and department heads.
Earlier, on Sunday afternoon, protesting students held a briefing on the university campus to explain the reasons behind the resignations of the Vice-Chancellor and 11 department heads.
They clarified that they did not seek the resignation of anyone except the Vice-Chancellor and the Head of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department. The students also demanded that the remaining faculty members withdraw their resignations.
According to images of resignation letters published on the university’s page, the Vice-Chancellor of UIU decided to resign on Saturday (April 26). He submitted his resignation letter to the Board of Trustees, citing that he was compelled to resign due to "discourteous and disrespectful situations created within the university premises by some students."
Following the Vice-Chancellor’s resignation, it was observed that all deans, department heads, and directors also collectively resigned from their administrative positions in protest and in opposition to what they described as the students’ "irrational" demands.
