A clash erupted between two student groups at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) over demands to ban student politics on campus. The incident took place on Tuesday (February 18) at the KUET campus.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of students marched around the university’s residential halls, chanting slogans such as "Student politics has no place here," "We want a politics-free campus," and "This campus will not be a hub for student politics." As they reached the Central Jame Mosque, tensions arose between them and another group of students.

The situation quickly escalated into a chase-and-counter-chase between the two groups, which eventually led to clashes. The unrest soon spread beyond the campus to adjacent roads near KUET, creating a highly volatile atmosphere.

Speaking to the media, Khan Jahan Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kabir Hossain stated, "We are working to control the situation following the clashes between two student groups at KUET. Additional police forces have been deployed on campus."
