Apple Delays AI-Enhanced Siri Update Due to Technical Issues

Apple’s plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into Siri are facing delays, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that engineering challenges are preventing the smart features in Siri’s new version from functioning properly.

Initially, the update was expected to be released with iOS 18.4 in April. However, it is now anticipated to launch in May alongside iOS 18.5.

Gurman further noted that the revamped Siri is central to Apple’s intelligence platform. However, its rollout has been gradual and has not yet reached key markets such as Europe and China.

With this update, Apple aims to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Meta’s Llama. However, the company is struggling with internal challenges that could affect future updates as well. Some iOS 19 features may even be delayed until 2026.

The Apple Intelligence update is expected to enhance Siri’s ability to understand user data, control apps, and interpret on-screen context more effectively.
