LinkedIn Listing for ‘Girlfriend’ Role Goes Viral
Love and companionship are natural human instincts, typically sought through real-life interactions, dating apps, or mutual acquaintances. However, one man has taken an unusually unconventional route, igniting widespread discussion on social media—by advertising for a ‘girlfriend’ through a job post on LinkedIn.
The full-time, hybrid ‘job’ listing was posted by Dinesh, a Gurugram-based professional and former Senior Associate at Tech Mahindra. In the description, he outlined that the primary responsibilities of the ‘girlfriend’ role would include building emotional connection, engaging in meaningful conversations, offering companionship, providing mutual support, and participating together in various activities and hobbies.
In the post, Dinesh wrote, “This is a Gurugram-based full-time hybrid girlfriend role, with some scope for remote interaction. Active communication, mutual respect, and understanding will form the foundation of this relationship.”
He further added that shared decision-making and fostering a positive, supportive relationship environment would also be part of the role.
As qualifications, Dinesh listed a high level of emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, empathy, and interpersonal abilities. A sense of humor, kindness, and a positive outlook were also described as essential traits.
The post also noted that the candidate should be capable of balancing personal and shared goals, show interest in developing shared hobbies or new experiences, and possess a mindset focused on mutual growth within the relationship.
As the post went viral, social media users responded with humor and satire. Many jokingly asked about the salary or CTC for the role.
One commenter quipped, “So now I realize—my ex did a six-month internship with me and then left after getting a full-time girlfriend role elsewhere!”
Another joked, “Great role description, but what’s the CTC?”
Responding to a user query, Dinesh clarified, “No, this is not an experiment. There really is a vacancy here. Please read the job description carefully to understand the profile. You’re also welcome to refer someone suitable.”
According to the latest update, the unusual ‘girlfriend’ position has already received 26 applications, and new applications are currently closed.
