Solar Outage Set to Disrupt Bangladesh-1 Broadcasts Temporarily
Due to solar outages, broadcast operations via Bangladesh-1 satellite may face temporary interruptions between September 29 and October 6.
On September 17, Wednesday, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) issued an advance alert, also announcing the possible disruption schedule.
According to BSCL, the expected outage times for Bangladesh-1 due to solar interference are as follows: September 29, from 9:35 am to 9:38 am (3 minutes); September 30, from 9:32 am to 9:41 am (9 minutes); October 1, from 9:30 am to 9:42 am (12 minutes); October 2, from 9:29 am to 9:42 am (13 minutes); October 3, from 9:29 am to 9:42 am (13 minutes); October 4, from 9:29 am to 9:41 am (12 minutes); October 5, from 9:29 am to 9:40 am (11 minutes); and October 6, from 9:30 am to 9:38 am (8 minutes).
BSCL explained that “solar outage” is a common astronomical phenomenon for geostationary satellites, occurring twice each year. The company will closely monitor the disruptions.
As the country’s first satellite, Bangladesh-1 currently provides broadcast and telecommunication services to various domestic and international organizations.
