Seven teams from the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) have participated in the national round of the World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE), showcasing their innovative projects with the aim of reaching the global finals.

The teams — Aid on Air, Scrap Venture, Cloud Drone, Peltiers, Nexora, Solar Tracking System, and Eco River AI — represented UITS at the competition held at the Imperial College campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka. The event featured a total of 120 projects from over 50 universities across the country.

From these, the top ten projects will be shortlisted next week. Subsequently, three to five selected teams will advance to the WICE 2025 World Final scheduled to be held in Malaysia this September.

Organized by the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA), the international competition invites students from universities around the globe to present sustainable and innovative projects in categories such as IT and Robotics, Environmental Science, Innovative Social Science, Applied Physics and Engineering, and Applied Life Sciences.

The national qualifier in Bangladesh took place on May 30, serving as the gateway to the global platform. Participants at the national level can also compete in Wall Magazine and Olympiad categories. Each category offers Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, in addition to a range of special awards including the Best Country Representative (CR) Award, Best Project Award, DoB Special Award, TA Special Award, and Participation Award.

In pursuit of representing Bangladesh on the international stage, UITS students, supported by the university’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), presented several projects. These included the Aid on Air team comprising Ishraq Uddin Chowdhury, Abdul Momen Safin, and Kazi Md. Azhar Uddin Abir; the Scrap Venture team with Motaleb Hossain Imon and Fahima Abida Chowdhury; Cloud Drone represented by Md. Ibrahim, Redwanul Karim Abid, and Arpa Bhowmik; the Peltiers team with Asif Mahmud, Nusrat Jahan Anni, and Jihadul Zarif Siam; Nexora team members Bishwajit Roy, Tanvir Mahmud Shaheen, and Sawda Akhtar; Solar Tracking System team members Mohammad Nihap, Golam Irfan Khan, and Arannya Ernest Nath; and the Eco River AI team comprising Mimtaz, Tasfia Aminul Mimi, and Tanvir Ahmed Khan.

With hopes high and innovations strong, these young minds from UITS are determined to fly the flag of Bangladesh at the WICE 2025 global stage.
