Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has been ranked as the top science and technology university in Bangladesh according to the latest Scopus data ranking by Elsevier, a leading global medical and scientific publication organization. Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NSTU) and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) secured the second and third positions, respectively.

This ranking was highlighted on Sunday, January 5, by Scientific Bangladesh, citing Elsevier’s Netherlands-based publication database. Elsevier ranks the world’s best educational institutions based on research papers published on its official platform. JUST ranks first among the country’s science and technology universities and ninth among all public universities in Bangladesh.

As of September 11, 2024, JUST has published approximately 450 research papers. NSTU also reported a similar count of around 450, while SUST published 400 research papers, securing their respective positions.

In contrast, the University of Dhaka (DU) leads among all Bangladeshi universities with over 1,500 published research papers, followed by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with nearly 900, and Rajshahi University (RU) with approximately 700 research papers.

The rankings are based on key criteria, including teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income (knowledge exchange with industries). Elsevier publishes over 2,000 journals annually, featuring more than 250,000 articles and housing over 7 million archived publications.
