Website Bridges Voter Voices in Thakurgaon-1
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir launched a website named alamgirfortomorrow.com on 7 January as a direct communication platform between elected representatives and the public, and to present his political commitments and development plans.
The website was opened to allow residents of Thakurgaon-1 constituency—his electoral area—to directly report issues such as extortion, land grabbing, crime, or other social problems. After being elected and assuming office as the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, he has received a total of 525 messages through the platform. According to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the first phase involved reviewing 250 of these messages, which were then categorized into several key groups.
These categories include requests for financial assistance; development of roads and infrastructure; appeals for improvements to mosques, temples, and other facilities; job or employment requests; complaints related to extortion, corruption, or narcotics; requests for resolving personal or family disputes such as land issues; appeals for medical assistance; requests for support in education; and other concerns.
Mirza Fakhrul said that several initiatives have already been taken based on these requests following the election. Applications related to infrastructure development have been listed and brought to the attention of the relevant authorities. Allocations for mosques and temples are already being made, and work has begun in some areas. In addition, preliminary activities have started for a medical college and an airport project. A Family Card pilot project has been launched, while allocation processes for various road development initiatives are also underway.
He further noted that, after verification, financial assistance has been arranged in some cases, while steps have been taken to create employment or small business opportunities for several applicants. In certain cases, initiatives have also been taken to provide medical assistance to vulnerable individuals. At the same time, anti-narcotics drives have begun in the area, he added.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir shared these details in a lengthy post on his verified Facebook page on Monday (16 March).
In the post, he wrote that while everyone remains busy with the work of nation-building, the page was launched at the beginning of the year with the aim of listening to the people of Thakurgaon-1 and standing beside them in addressing their problems. Within a short time, the platform received 525 messages. Of these, the first 250 messages were reviewed and categorized into several important areas.
He further wrote that “Team Mirza Alamgir” is carefully examining each issue and trying to find realistic and sustainable solutions through proper verification. However, he also mentioned that not all problems can be solved immediately, and that some cases may require time.
Concluding the post, he expressed gratitude to the people of Thakurgaon-1, saying that their trust, patience, and cooperation remain his greatest strength. “We are sincerely grateful for your patience, trust, and support,” he wrote, also extending special thanks to every member of “Team Mirza Alamgir.”
Meanwhile, many people on social media have welcomed this initiative by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. Netizens have viewed the effort to listen directly to the concerns of ordinary citizens in a positive light.
