Sony-Smart Rolls Out Digital Warranty Service for TV Buyers in Bangladesh
Japanese electronics giant Sony, in partnership with its Bangladeshi distributor Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd, has officially launched a digital warranty service in Bangladesh. The new service, currently available for Sony televisions, was inaugurated on Tuesday afternoon at Zahir Tower in Shewrapara, Dhaka.
The digital warranty system was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Bae Ji Hoon, President of the Sony Singapore Regional Marketing and Development Center, and Mr. Zahurul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies Bangladesh, by clicking a laptop. Also present at the event were Mr. Ricky Lucas, Head of Sony Electronics Bangladesh, Mohammad Tanvir Hossain, Director of Sony-Smart, Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, Head of Sales, and Azad Rahman, Head of Marketing, among others.
The event highlighted that while traditional warranty cards typically span 3 to 5 years or more, customers often face difficulties in storing them long term. To solve this issue, the digital warranty will allow buyers to register their Sony TV products online and receive a digital card. Customers will be able to access their warranty simply by remembering their registration number or scanning the device. Entering the product’s serial number will also retrieve the warranty details.
Speaking about the new service, Zahurul Islam stated, “This digital warranty will not only make post-sales service more convenient for customers, but also help identify counterfeit products. It will enable us to deliver improved support to our clients.”
Mr. Ricky Lucas added, “With digital registration, customers can confidently purchase genuine Sony TVs and other products. We believe this will give them greater peace of mind.”
The event also showcased the official launch and pricing of eight new Sony Bravia 2025 models, including 43”, 50”, 55”, 65”, and 85” sizes of 4K Google and OLED 4K Google TVs. As part of the Eid promotional campaign, customers will receive guaranteed gifts such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, air coolers, and rechargeable fans with select models.
