Teenager Fatally Stabs Father in Chuadanga Over Mobile Phone Dispute
A tragic incident unfolded in Polashpara, Chuadanga, where a madrasa student fatally stabbed his father after being reprimanded over mobile phone usage. The victim, Dodul Hossain (53), succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack, while police have arrested the accused son, KAM Rifat (17).
Dodul Hossain was the son of deceased Kazi Noor Mostofa of Polashpara, Chuadanga.
According to the police, Dodul Hossain frequently discouraged his son from using a mobile phone. The conflict escalated when he confiscated Rifat’s phone on Saturday, leading to an altercation. Later that night, around 7:45 PM, while Dodul was praying, Rifat allegedly attacked him from behind with a knife, stabbing him multiple times. Dodul collapsed on the spot. Family members and neighbors rushed him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 PM.
Dr. Tarek Hasan, the on-duty physician at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital's emergency department, stated,
"The victim sustained multiple stab wounds from a sharp weapon. Excessive bleeding caused his death."
Khaledur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, confirmed the arrest of Rifat following the incident. He said,
"The suspect was immediately taken into custody. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue, and legal proceedings will follow."
Eyewitness Account from the Victim’s Daughter
Mocha. Ritu, the victim’s daughter, recounted the horrifying moment, stating,
"Rifat is a Hafiz. My father had been restricting his phone use due to his growing addiction. This morning (Saturday), he confiscated Rifat’s phone. At night, my father was praying Taraweeh inside the house, my mother was performing ablution, and I was in the adjacent room. Suddenly, I heard my father scream. I rushed in and saw Rifat holding a knife, repeatedly stabbing him while my father struggled to defend himself. My mother and I somehow restrained Rifat. Neighbors then took my father to the hospital, but shortly after, he passed away."
The senseless killing has left the local community in shock, raising concerns over youth discipline and excessive mobile phone dependency.
