SSC Exams Begin April 10: Education Board Dismisses Rumors of Army Deployment

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations for 2025 are set to commence on April 10. However, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has refuted social media rumors claiming that the army will be deployed for exam security.

While the committee has not issued an official statement, its representatives have confirmed that no such decision has been made. The viral claims on social media are false and misleading.

No Discussion on Army Deployment

Professor Khandaker Ehsanul Kabir, Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, addressed the issue, stating,
"During last week's law and order committee meeting at the Secretariat regarding SSC exam security, no formal discussion took place on deploying the army. I am unaware of how and from where this rumor originated."

Meanwhile, SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Education Board, added,
"At present, the army is entrusted with maintaining law and order with magistracy powers. Thus, they may be assigned responsibilities related to SSC exam security or safeguarding question papers. However, no formal decision has been made."

New Directives for a Fair and Secure Examination

To ensure a fair, smooth, and cheating-free environment for the SSC, Dakhil, SSC (Vocational), and Dakhil (Vocational) examinations of 2025, the Ministry of Education has issued a set of directives:

All coaching centers will remain closed for 33 days, from April 10 to May 13, to prevent unfair practices during the examinations.

Candidates must arrive at the exam centers at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time and take their assigned seats. If a candidate arrives after the 30-minute mark, they must provide their name, roll number, entry time, and reason for delay in the center’s register. The list of late arrivals must be reported daily to the respective education board by the center secretary. No candidate will be allowed to enter the center 30 minutes after the exam begins.

Except for the center secretary, no one is permitted to use mobile phones, smartwatches, or any unauthorized electronic devices inside the exam center. The center secretary may use a basic feature phone without a camera or internet access. Anyone found violating this rule will face disciplinary action.

Officials, teachers, and staff involved in handling question papers from treasuries, police stations, or security custody are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones. Moreover, vehicles with tinted windows cannot be used to transport question papers.

Each exam center will be assigned an executive magistrate or officer (tag officer). The center secretary or a designated representative, accompanied by the tag officer and police escort, will collect the question papers from security custody. No question papers can be removed or transported without the presence of the tag officer.

All question paper sets, including the multiple-choice and creative sections, must be collected from security custody. The set code for the examination will be announced 25 minutes before the exam begins. The sealed question paper packets can only be opened in the presence of the tag officer, center secretary, and police officials.

During the exam period, unauthorized individuals will be strictly prohibited from entering the examination center. Any unauthorized persons attempting to enter will face legal action.

If an exam starts late due to unforeseen circumstances, candidates must be given the full duration as mentioned in the question paper.

Law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant in exam centers and during the transportation of question papers.

Strict legal actions will be taken against individuals involved in leaking question papers or providing answers to candidates. The law enforcement agencies and local administration will take decisive action against those engaging in such activities.

Authorities will intensify surveillance on social media to detect and prevent rumors or fraudulent activities related to question leaks.

All photocopy shops near exam centers will remain closed during the examinations.

Once an exam ends, answer scripts must be dispatched to the nearest post office as quickly as possible.

To prevent any disruptions, Section 144 will be imposed in areas surrounding the examination centers.

Professor Khandaker Ehsanul Kabir, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, will serve as the official spokesperson for all exam-related announcements and updates to the media.
