Facebook to Auto-Delete Live Videos After 30 Days

Facebook has announced that live videos will now be automatically deleted after 30 days, replacing the previous policy where they were stored indefinitely. This new rule will take effect starting Wednesday, according to TechCrunch.
As a result of this change, all existing live videos older than 30 days will be removed. However, Facebook has assured that users will receive a notification before deletion and will be given a 90-day window to take action. Users will have the option to download their videos, transfer them to cloud storage, or save them as a new Reel.
In a blog post, Facebook stated, “This change will align our storage policies with industry standards and ensure the best possible live video experience.” However, the company did not provide further details regarding the decision.
On competing platforms, Twitch retains videos for 60 days for partners and prime streamers, while general streamers’ videos remain for 14 days. Meanwhile, YouTube converts live videos into regular videos, allowing indefinite storage.
Additionally, Facebook has introduced a new download tool, giving users up to six months to retrieve their live videos or move them to cloud storage.
