According to sources, Beko, a flagship brand of Turkey’s Koç Group, has invested nearly $600 million in emerging markets across the region over the past decade, recognizing Bangladesh’s investment-friendly environment and growth potential. Since acquiring Singer Bangladesh Limited, Beko has been integrating global expertise to enhance the country’s consumer durables sector and improve the standard of living. The newly established plant is part of its commitment to positioning Bangladesh as a regional manufacturing hub. It is expected to create 4,000 jobs while incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), setting a benchmark for the industry.
Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko, emphasized that the new facility marks a sustainable, smart, and high-quality local production process for Singer Bangladesh. He stated, “Bangladesh is more than just a market; it represents a unique horizon of opportunities, innovation, and potential. The synergy between Singer’s 120-year legacy and deep local expertise, along with Beko’s global proficiency and expansive network, will establish a strong foundation for our growth in Bangladesh. Since 2019, we have invested $146 million in Bangladesh, building state-of-the-art facilities. This factory represents the future of manufacturing, integrating advanced technologies, environmental sustainability, and economic growth. Constructed to LEED Gold standards, it incorporates solar energy utilization and a zero-waste approach, reflecting Beko’s commitment to sustainability, climate action, and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. I believe this initiative will drive progress for people, the planet, and prosperity, symbolizing our vision for a better future.”
Singer Bangladesh began its business transformation journey in 2024, aiming to enhance the customer experience. As part of this strategic move, the company relocated its headquarters to a new location, aligning with Beko’s globally recognized standards. Additionally, a concept store was launched in Gulshan-1, and with the inauguration of the new manufacturing plant, another milestone has been achieved. Recently, another concept store was opened in Gulshan-2, reinforcing Singer Bangladesh’s mission to bring Koç Group and Beko’s expertise and quality to local consumers.
M.H.M. Fairoz, Managing Director and CEO of Singer Bangladesh Limited, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to customer-centric operations. He remarked, “At Singer Bangladesh, we remain committed to keeping customer focus at the core of our operations. Our ongoing transformation is aimed at introducing contemporary, globally recognized quality to the Bangladesh market, enhancing our valued customers’ experience. We are working towards establishing Singer Bangladesh as one of the country’s top brands. By leveraging global expertise, we are fostering sustainable industry growth while enhancing the lives of Bangladeshi consumers.”
The factory is designed to maximize natural light through a skylight roof, allowing for efficient solar energy utilization, which will reduce carbon emissions by 60%. Additionally, rainwater harvesting systems will be implemented for landscape irrigation. The plant features an energy monitoring system to ensure sustainable operations, while local and recycled construction materials were used in its development. These initiatives demonstrate Beko’s commitment to sustainable development, with expectations that such efforts will bring positive changes for consumers and the global community.
