Celebrating 13 years of pioneering contributions to materials science and applied nanotechnology, the country’s maiden dedicated nanotechnology research unit—the 'Laboratory of Nano-Bio and Advanced Materials Engineering' (NaBAME/NAM Lab) at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST)—observed its 13th founding anniversary. In recognition of its standardized laboratory environment, quality control, and scientific rigor, the laboratory has formally achieved the international ISO 9001:2015 certification.

The anniversary event was held on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, at 9:30 AM in front of the NAM Lab at the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building. JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Yearul Kabir inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest, alongside Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahamudul Hasan and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque Hasan as special guests.

Addressing the session, the Vice-Chancellor stated, "The NAM Lab continues to drive impactful scientific discoveries, elevating the university's international research standing while addressing critical societal challenges." He affirmed the administration’s commitment to extending comprehensive structural and policy support to sustain the laboratory’s advanced research trajectory.

Founded in 2013 under the leadership of Professor Dr. Md. Javed Hossain Khan from the Department of Chemical Engineering, the lab currently houses 17 researchers and two PhD scholars focusing on agriculture, food security, biomedicine, and environmental protection. The facility boasts a portfolio of over 100 peer-reviewed international publications, more than 100 international conference abstracts, and nearly 8,000 academic citations.

To date, the laboratory has successfully developed more than 30 distinct nanomaterials and over 20 advanced nanocomposites, with multiple patent filings underway. Notable technical innovations include a cost-effective, eco-friendly 'sprayable nano-urea fertilizer' engineered to optimize crop yields and electrochemical 'nano-biosensors' designed for rapid point-of-care medical diagnostics. The research unit actively collaborates with over 20 leading global universities, 10 domestic institutions, and three non-governmental organizations to advance translational engineering applications.
