Calling for academic realignments to navigate fourth industrial revolution challenges and elevate global institutional rankings, Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan has urged Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) to formally integrate frontier disciplines including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Nanotechnology, and Robotics. He made the remarks as chief guest during the celebration of 'KUET University Day 2026' on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister observed, "A university's academic standard and standing are profoundly mirrored in its alumni network and the market competitiveness of its graduates. To secure top international rankings, our priority must transition from structural brick-and-mortar investments toward building technological proficiency and academic excellence."

He highlighted that the government is actively prioritizing 'Cross-Border Education' frameworks, which will significantly curb foreign exchange outflows while facilitating the domestic influx of global intellectual property. Dr. Milan also stressed executing 'Reverse Brain Drain' models by incentivizing accomplished Bangladeshi expatriate researchers to return and build the nation as a regional education hub. Furthermore, he disclosed that an official announcement regarding an upgraded pay scale for MPO-listed educators would be declared shortly.

Presided over by KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Masud, the university foundation program was attended by National Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul as special guest. Originally established on 1 September 2003 through the transformation of the erstwhile Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) Khulna, the engineering university currently operates 16 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate departments across 4 faculties.

Following the university event, the Minister attended a discussion meeting commemorating the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at Zia Hall premises in Khulna as chief guest. Chaired by Khulna City BNP President Advocate S. M. Shafiqul Alam Mona, the political session featured BNP Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal MP as lead speaker and Assistant Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu as special speaker.
