Mirza Fakhrul Urges Engineers for Greater Role in Building a New Bangladesh

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on engineers to play a more active, responsible, and effective role in the country’s development and in building a “New Bangladesh.”

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a reception ceremony held on Saturday (May 22) at the auditorium of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Ramna, marking the organization’s 78th founding anniversary.

The minister said public expectations from engineers are very high and emphasized that their contribution to the nation’s advancement and development must be strengthened further. He noted that the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh is not merely a professional body for engineers, but also an important institution contributing significantly to national development activities.

The event was chaired by IEB President Engineer Mohammad Riazul Islam, also known as Riju. During the ceremony, several engineers and public representatives were honored in recognition of their special contributions in different sectors.

Among those receiving recognition were Members of Parliament Sanjida Islam (Tuli), Moinul Islam Khan (Shanto), and Md. Ashraf Uddin (Bakul).

In his speech, the minister stated that following the July mass uprising, a renewed aspiration has emerged among citizens to build a new Bangladesh through the continued struggle for independence, democracy, and rights. He urged everyone to work together in unity for national development.

Engineers, professional representatives, and distinguished individuals from various sectors attended the event.
