PlayStation Play Comes to Sony–Honda’s Afeela EV
Sony’s first electric vehicle, jointly developed with Honda, will feature PlayStation Remote Play, allowing passengers to play games from PS5 and PS4 consoles directly inside the car. Sony Honda Mobility said the service will be accessible through the vehicle’s large infotainment display, according to Engadget.
The feature is expected to add a new layer of in-car entertainment, particularly during long journeys. Drivers will also be able to play while the vehicle is parked. Games can be controlled using a DualSense controller kept at home, ensuring a familiar PlayStation experience.
The report noted that using Remote Play will require a minimum internet speed of 5 Mbps, while a smoother gaming experience can be achieved with speeds of around 15 Mbps.
The technology was previously demonstrated on the Afeela 1 model at CES 2024. Deliveries of the Afeela electric vehicle are scheduled to begin in 2026. While gaming in electric vehicles is not entirely new, direct integration with PlayStation gives this initiative a distinctive edge.
