The final regional rounds of this year’s Science Festival concluded with events in Sylhet and Khulna, aimed at further encouraging school students across the country to engage in scientific exploration. Following the regional festivals held in Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Barishal, nearly 800 students from 52 schools participated in these two concluding events.

The festivals showcased students’ innovative and research-based projects, alongside quiz competitions, science-focused discussions, and Q&A sessions, making the events a lively celebration of scientific inquiry.

Through these two regional divisions, the regional phase of the festival came to a close. The final Science Festival will be held in Dhaka on October 31, featuring winners from the regional science projects and quizzes. Students participating from across the country will be awarded prizes for their achievements in the final round.

In Sylhet, hosted at Scholars’ Home Majortila College, and in Khulna, hosted at St. Joseph’s High School, students presented nearly 32 projects from both divisions. Out of these inventive projects, the 14 best projects were awarded. Additionally, 42 quiz winners across two categories in each division were also recognized and awarded.

The Sylhet event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim, Vice Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Principal Md. Faizul Haque of Scholars’ Home Majortila College, Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Khan, Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Farhad Rabbi, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.

At the Khulna opening ceremony, attendees included Dr. Nazmul Alam, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna Agricultural University, Headmaster Alfred Ranjit Mondal of St. Joseph’s School, and Abul Basar, Executive Editor of Biggan Chinta. Both events were also attended by Humayun Kabir, EVP & Head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at bKash.

The festivals featured science-themed stalls, magic demonstrations based on scientific principles, talks by authors, mathematicians, botanists, physicians, and science speakers, student Q&A sessions, musical performances, and award ceremonies, adding extra excitement to the events.

The Science Festival was jointly organized by bKash and Biggan Chinta.
