At a time when most business associations in Bangladesh are being run by appointed administrators, the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) stands as a notable exception, preparing to hold a direct election to form its new Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term.

The vote, set to take place on Saturday morning at the Shahid Abu Sayeed International Conference Center in Shahbagh, Dhaka, will offer 924 eligible voters—including both general and associate members—the opportunity to cast their ballots through a secret vote from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM without interruption.

This year’s election reflects a collective aspiration among members to transform ISPAB into a more professional and unified trade body. Candidates and voters alike are emphasizing integrity and business acumen over factional or ideological loyalty, with hopes of guiding ISPAB toward a stronger role as a core service provider in the national business landscape.

The election process is being overseen by a legal election board led by Advocate Mohammad Ali of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, with Assistant Attorney General Md. Ershad Hossain (Rashed) and Advocate Rakib Hossain serving as board members.

An appellate board is also in place, chaired by Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Islam, and includes Lt. Col. (Retd.) Ahmed Dania Islam, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, and Md. Nihar Hossain (Faruk).

According to the association’s bylaws and national trade organization regulations, 14 candidates are competing for nine executive seats from the general membership category. Among them, 11 have aligned under a single panel titled Team United, which launched its final campaign efforts on Friday night.

Team United includes:

  • Aminul Haque, CEO, Amber IT

  • Saiful Islam Siddique, Managing Director, ICC Communication Ltd.

  • Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan, Managing Director, KS Network Ltd.

  • Moin Uddin Ahmed, CEO, Red Data (Pvt.) Ltd.

  • Neyamul Haque Khan, Chairman, Majeda Networks Ltd.

  • Md. Mithu Hawlader, CTO, Invention Technologies Ltd.

  • Rashedur Rahman Rajon, Managing Director, One Sky Communications Ltd.

Meanwhile, three independent candidates—Md. Azharul Haque Chowdhury, Md. Irfan Uddin Saimun, and Sabbir Ahmed—are also vying for positions.

In the associate member category, 10 candidates are contesting for four seats. They include:

  • Tarik Hasan Turjo

  • Mohammad Alamgir Hossain

  • Fuad Muhammad Sharfuddin

  • Md. Zubair Islam

  • Mohammad Shahjahan

  • Md. Imdadul Haque (Milon)

  • S. M. Saiful Islam Selim

  • Md. Nasir Uddin

Vote counting will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday. The nine general members and four associate members receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to the 13-member Executive Committee. On May 19, 2025, the newly elected committee members will hold an internal vote to determine office-bearer roles within the Executive Committee.
