Robi Receives Honorable Mention at SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025

Robi Axiata PLC has earned an Honorable Mention in the Most Sustainable Telecommunications Company of the Year category at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025. The announcement was made by the operator on Monday, July 14, following the award ceremony held on Saturday evening at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka.

According to Robi, the recognition comes as a testament to its sustainability efforts, including the operation of 12.4% of its network towers using solar energy, which generated 13,534 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar power in the past year. This initiative has led to an annual reduction of approximately 1,513 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition, Robi has installed ten community-based water purification plants at key railway stations across the country, providing safe drinking water to nearly 1.3 million travelers each month. Through its commitment to circular economy practices, the company has also recycled 15.5 tonnes of electronic waste and planted more than 14,000 trees nationwide, further contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Robi stated, “We aim to reduce our overall operational carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 and reach net-zero emissions by 2050.”
