DUET Declared Eid Day Dining for Dormitory Dwellers

In a heartening gesture of communal harmony and student welfare, the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) announced to host a special Eid day lunch for students residing in its dormitories during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Zaynul Abedin made the announcement earlier this week, affirming the university’s commitment to standing by its students, regardless of their faith or personal circumstances.
“During Eid-ul-Adha, many non-Muslim students, along with some Muslim students, remain in the halls for various reasons,” said Dr. Abedin. “It may not be possible to ease the sorrow of not being able to celebrate with family, but since the entire university is a family, we will celebrate Eid together, Insha’Allah.”
According to university sources, lunch was arranged for approximately 250 students. Of them, around 150 are Muslim and nearly 100 are Hindu and from other religious backgrounds. The university planned separate meals respecting the religious customs of the different groups.
The initiative has been widely praised by students, faculty, and staff alike. Many took to social media to express their appreciation, thanking the administration for creating a sense of belonging during a time often spent with loved ones.
The Eid lunch held on Eid Day, was seen as a symbol of DUET’s inclusive ethos and was warmly received by those who took part.
