Ismail Al Jazari Science Fest Ignites Innovation at Islamic University
Following its success in Dhaka, the Ismail Al Jazari Science Festival 2025 has now commenced at the Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia. The multi-category event—featuring a programming contest, project exhibition, Rubik’s cube competition, and science olympiad—is being held under the shade of the university’s iconic banyan tree and will continue through Wednesday (May 21).
Organized by the Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s IU unit, the festival was officially inaugurated on Monday (May 19) at 1:30 PM with a programming contest held in Room 101 of the Ibn Sina Academic Building. Mahmudul Hasan, President of the IU unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir, inaugurated the event. Also present were IU unit Secretary Yousuf Ali, Welfare Secretary Jahangir Alam, and President of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology branch Shoaib Ahmed, along with numerous students from the Faculty of Science.
The organizers have announced a total prize pool of BDT 100,000 for the top performers. Participation rules require teams of up to three members for the programming contest and project exhibition, while the Rubik’s cube competition and science olympiad will be individual events. Registration fees have been set at BDT 300 for the programming contest, BDT 500 for the project exhibition, and BDT 100 each for the Rubik’s cube challenge and science olympiad.
According to the organizers, participants ranking from first to tenth in each category will receive prizes. Additionally, all participants will be provided with certificates, refreshments, and special gifts.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmudul Hasan stated, “There is no shortage of talent among us, but there is a lack of encouragement. Talented individuals are not given the space to shine. They should be seen and encouraged by society and the state. This initiative by Chhatra Shibir aims to nurture and showcase that talent.”
