NSU Hackathon Season 5 Showcases Student Innovation

The fifth edition of the NSU ACM Student Chapter competition concluded successfully at North South University (NSU), Bashundhara, with students demonstrating their software-based solutions to real-world problems. The championship title was claimed by ‘Extradrill’ from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), while ‘Error 404 Found’ from BRAC University secured the first runner-up position. The second runner-up spot was taken by ‘NSU Thunderhawks’.

This year’s event, titled ‘Hack NSU: Season 5’, was held on Saturday and featured participation from 11 teams representing top private universities, including IUT, NSU, BRAC University, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).

The inter-university competition was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, participants were presented with six problem statements, from which they selected one to propose a solution. The second phase required contestants to code their proposed solutions within an intense eight-hour session.

Speaking about the event, Rim Gazi Mahmud Hossain, Secretary of the NSU ACM Student Chapter, stated, “The day-long competition was judged by faculty members from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of North South University.” Additionally, students from the department took on various organizational roles to ensure the success of the event.
