HMD Unveils ‘Amped Buds’ with Backup Battery Feature at MWC 2025

At the Mobile World Congress 2025, HMD introduced its latest wireless earbuds, the “Amped Buds,” featuring a charging case that doubles as a backup battery for smartphones. The Qi2-compatible case, equipped with a 1,600 mAh battery, can boost a smartphone’s charge through reverse wireless charging. The Verge reported the announcement.
The new earbuds come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) technology. The case holds an IPX4 certification, while the earbuds are rated IP54, providing resistance against dust and minor water exposure. Measuring just 14mm thick, the case incorporates magnetic Qi2 and MagSafe charging support, enabling seamless attachment to most smartphones.
HMD stated that the case can recharge the earbuds more than ten times, allowing for up to 95 hours of music playback. The Amped Buds are set to hit the market in April, with a retail price of €199 (approximately $206).
