In a bid to recognize academic merit and incentivize modern digital literacy, the government is considering distributing digital tablet devices to all 116,676 students who achieved GPA-5 in the latest Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations. Education and Primary & Mass Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan shared the development while addressing the 'KUET University Day 2026' assembly as chief guest on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.

According to official examination statistics, a total of 116,676 candidates scored the highest grade of GPA-5 this year, comprising 63,896 female students and 52,780 male students. The Education Minister noted that discussions have been initiated at the executive level to confer a special 'Prime Minister Award' alongside individual digital tablets to each of these high achievers to reinforce academic engagement.

Highlighting targeted incentives for girls' education, Dr. Milan added that proposals to provide 'Pink Bicycles' to female students across approximately 19,000 secondary schools nationwide are also under active consideration. The strategic measures are intended to minimize female dropout rates and sustain institutional support for secondary-level learners across Bangladesh.
