ATM Upgrade: New Air Traffic Management Center Elevates Bangladesh Airspace
A newly constructed ‘Air Traffic Management Center’ (ATMC) has been inaugurated at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the aim of making Bangladesh’s airspace safer, more efficient, and aligned with international standards.
The center was inaugurated on Monday, 20 April. Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Afroza Khanam formally launched the operations of the facility.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat attended the ceremony as a special guest. The Ambassador of France to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhter, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiqui, and Vice President of technology provider Thales, Nicolas, along with other concerned officials were also attended the ceremony.
In a press release, CAAB stated that the launch of the Air Traffic Management Center will bring significant positive changes to the country’s airspace management. It will enhance accuracy and punctuality in flight operations, increase airspace capacity, and significantly reduce safety risks. With the support of advanced technology, traffic monitoring and control will become more effective, helping to meet international standards. At the same time, it is expected to contribute to increased foreign currency earnings and further strengthen the strategic importance of Bangladesh’s airspace.
