The capacity of key cloud facility components at the National Data Center (NDC) has been increased by more than threefold, significantly boosting storage, memory, and processing power. Alongside this expansion, a completely new Tier-III data center is being constructed at the Jashore Hi-Tech Park. The work is expected to be completed within the next three months, according to Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

As the Special Assistant in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said that work in Jashore is progressing at full speed, day and night. “All servers, machinery, and support equipment for the cloud facility have already started arriving. We expect both the data center and the cloud facilities to go into full operation within three months,” he said.

He further noted that the government is steadily building the necessary infrastructure to secure the future of the country’s digital transformation. “Through continuous efforts, significant progress has been achieved within a short period of time,” he added. At present, five cloud facilities are under development. These include: the ‘Nutanix Cloud’ for enhancing the capacity of the National Data Center; Huawei Cloud; a fully new Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution in the form of a ‘Virtual Containerized Cloud Service’; an NVIDIA Volta Architecture Tensor Core GPU–based Cloud Resource Management Platform designed for training smaller AI models; and a relatively large-capacity new DC/DR cloud facility in Jashore.

With these enhanced capabilities, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb expressed optimism on his social media platforms that the NDC will now be able to host software services and payloads for numerous government ministries, departments, and agencies.

Earlier, on August 20 last year, following a review of the new data center’s design and a site inspection, the Special Assistant responsible for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology had announced that the expansion of the National Data Center (NDC) and the Digital Recovery Data Center would be implemented within six months.
