PSTU Scholars Shape Shahid Zia Study Circle
A 31-member convening committee of the Shahid Zia Research Council has been formed at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU). Professor Badiuzzaman, former Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, has been named Convener, while Professor Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin, Registrar of the university and faculty member of the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Department, has been appointed Member Secretary.
The announcement was made in a press release signed by Anisur Rahman Anis, President of the central committee of the Council, and Acting General Secretary Advocate Abdul Malek Talukder on Tuesday, September 30. Members of the Council expressed hope that the newly formed committee would open new horizons for research, education, and nationalist ideology within the university arena.
Extending congratulations to the new leadership, Anisur Rahman Anis said: “Shahid President Ziaur Rahman was the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, a great leader of nationalism, and the founder of multiparty democracy. The newly formed committee at the university will play a crucial role in spreading his ideals among the new generation.”
Convener Professor Badiuzzaman remarked: “Shahid Zia’s dream was to build a self-reliant and developed Bangladesh. Through research and activities, we want to carry that dream forward. This committee will work to strengthen nationalist spirit.”
Member Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin added: “Discipline, work, and patriotism were the core principles of Shahid Zia. We want to inspire both students and teachers with those values. The newly formed convening committee will work together to achieve this goal.”
The committee includes Joint Conveners Professor Md. Mehedi Hasan Sikdar of the Statistics Department, Professor Dr. Md. Saiful Islam of the Soil Science Department, Assistant Professor and Assistant Proctor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Hossain of the Plant Pathology Department, Assistant Registrar Md. Riaz Kanchan Shahid, and Section Officer K. M. Shahadat Hossain Mia of the central library.
Among the distinguished members are Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman (Entomology), Professor Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Agriculture), Professor M.
