Robi Resells Starlink to Reach Rural Regions
Robi Axiata PLC has become the first telecom operator in Bangladesh to secure authorization as a reseller of Starlink’s satellite internet services, following its earlier milestone as the pioneer of commercial 4G in the country.
The operator announced on Thursday, September 4, that it has recently signed an agreement with Starlink.
Under the deal, Robi plans to introduce Starlink services on both Local Priority and Global Priority bases. The company stated that the services will be made available through its enterprise sales channels and authorized retail outlets. Additionally, Robi is planning to launch community-sharing Wi-Fi initiatives to ensure affordable internet access in rural areas.
Commenting on the development, Robi Axiata PLC’s Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmad said, “This is a transformative step toward bridging Bangladesh’s digital divide. By bringing high-speed satellite internet to remote regions, Robi is enabling local communities to access essential digital services that will accelerate inclusion, innovation, and sustainable progress.”
