Fake Facebook Profile Fuels Falsehoods About CMP Chief
A fake Facebook account has been created in the name of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz, allegedly spreading controversial remarks. The matter prompted an official warning from the CMP in the early hours of Friday, August 8, at around 12:15 a.m.
In a cautionary post on its verified Facebook page, the CMP urged the public not to like, comment on, or share any posts from the fake account. It also stated that the perpetrator behind the incident would be brought to justice swiftly.
The warning included a screenshot of the fake account, which used an official photograph of Commissioner Hasib Aziz at his workplace as the profile picture. The account had more than 1,200 Facebook friends.
The CMP’s alert stated, “At around 2:00 p.m. on August 8, a fake Facebook account created using the name of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner was observed sharing posts containing controversial remarks. The matter has come to the attention of the Police Commissioner. This is a completely fake account. Please do not like, comment, or share any posts from this account. Be cautious of misinformation and false propaganda.”
