False Frame-Up: Bangladesh Rebukes ‘Aaj Tak Bangla’ for Misleading Report on Police Medals
A recent broadcast by Indian television channel Aaj Tak Bangla has come under fire for airing a misleading report that falsely labeled an official photo of a Bangladesh Police awards ceremony as a “secret image.” The image in question showed police officials receiving medals from the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh during Police Week.
The report questioned the presence of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the photograph and claimed that the police uniform resembled that of a Pakistani general.
However, the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser clarified that the photograph was taken on April 29 during an official event held at the Police Lines, where 62 members of the Bangladesh Police were awarded medals for their distinguished service.
"Among the awardees seen in the photograph are three Additional Inspectors General—Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, and Md. Shibgat Ullah—as well as Deputy Inspector General Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim. Each of them received the Bangladesh Police Medal for their exemplary performance in their respective roles," the Press Wing stated.
They further emphasized, "This is not a secret image. It was officially released to the media by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing. The report by ‘Aaj Tak Bangla’ also includes false propaganda involving the Bangladesh Army. These are all part of a planned disinformation campaign against Bangladesh and are highly condemnable."
