Bridging Business and Education: 'Campus to Corporate' Initiative by UCBD

Universal College Bangladesh (UCB) has launched the 'Campus to Corporate' initiative to bridge the gap between the education and industry sectors. Under this initiative, the first dialogue was held at the UCB campus on Gulshan Avenue in the capital, chaired by Arif Khan, Vice Chairman of Shanta Asset Management.

In the event, Arif Khan delivered an informative presentation titled 'The Bangladesh Financial Systems – Interaction Between Money Markets and Capital Markets'. Based on his extensive experience, he provided a thorough overview of Bangladesh’s financial sector and compared it with the financial sectors of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries. He analyzed the overall state of Bangladesh's banking sector and equity markets and discussed the challenges local institutions face in raising capital in the stock market.

In his presentation, Arif Khan also analyzed significant changes in the global economy and outlined how Bangladesh could successfully transform into an advanced economy in the future. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, which was moderated by Dewan Muhammad Noor-E-Yazdani, Senior Lecturer at Universal College Bangladesh. During the Q&A, students inquired about various topics, including Bangladesh’s banking sector, international loans, and digital currencies like Bitcoin.

During his speech, Arif Khan, Vice Chairman of Shanta Asset Management, said, “Students need to acquire not only theoretical knowledge about the key factors that play an important role in our market and business sectors but also an understanding of practical issues. UCB’s ‘Campus to Corporate Program’ is an excellent initiative. Through this, students will be introduced to professional realities and will understand how they can apply their learned knowledge in practice. I am happy to share my ideas and experiences with talented young people.”

Under the 'Campus to Corporate' initiative of UCB, such dialogues will be organized regularly, where industry leaders will share their knowledge and experiences with students enrolled in UCB's international courses.

In this regard, Professor Hugh Gill, President of Universal College Bangladesh, said, “An important part of acquiring educational qualifications in Australia and the United Kingdom is providing students with practical experience of applying their knowledge and skills in real-life situations. Through our 'Campus to Corporate' dialogues, students will gain practical insights into the business sector, while also building the necessary business networks for their future career success.”
