Interim Government to Publish Political Parties’ Opinions on Reform Commission Report

The head of the interim government and chairman of the National Consensus Commission, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has announced that the opinions of political parties regarding the Reform Commission’s report will be made public through a dedicated website.
Speaking at the closing session of the first consensus meeting with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road on Saturday (February 15) afternoon, Dr. Yunus said, “Political parties may agree with the proposed reforms, agree with modifications, or entirely disagree. Some may feel certain reforms are not necessary at this moment. However, reaching a consensus on the need for reforms is crucial. If we agree, the path to implementation will emerge. If we do not, there is no way forward.”
At the beginning of his speech, the chief adviser emphasized the necessity of reforms, stating, "We have been discussing reforms for a long time because, as a nation, we have no alternative but to address them. If we claim that reforms are unnecessary, people will laugh. They will question what we have been saying and doing all this time. We all acknowledge that reforms are essential—profoundly essential, not superficial."
Addressing the reason for bringing all parties together, he said, "Had we not done so, we would have had to reach out to groups individually. Now, sitting together, we have listened to each other and understood our responsibilities. We have shared our perspectives, and you have shared yours."
Dr. Yunus also pointed out the widespread disorder, stating, "We all acknowledge that corruption and mismanagement have no bounds. No institution functions properly, and no law is implemented correctly. The essence of reform lies in addressing these issues."
The consensus meeting on electoral arrangements was attended by representatives from 26 political parties and 10 alliances, with around 100 delegates participating.
