The Jashore University of Science and Technology Journalists' Association (JUSTJA) marked its 8th founding anniversary amid dynamic festivities, featuring a colorful rally, cake cutting, orientation of new inductees, and annual excellence awards. The commemorative events were held on the university campus on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.
The program commenced at 11:00 AM with a university rally from the administrative complex, followed by cake cutting and a discussion session at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. Chaired by JUSTJA President Ruhul Amin and moderated by General Secretary Imran Hossain, the session was addressed by JUST Vice-Chancellor and Chief Advisor of JUSTJA Professor Dr. Md. Yearul Kabir as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor noted, "Just as journalism acts as a fundamental pillar of state governance, the journalists' association serves as an indispensable pillar of institutional integrity within a university. Objective reportage helps highlight administrative blind spots, student concerns, and institutional innovations to drive qualitative institutional growth."
During the ceremony, annual professional honors were conferred on standout campus correspondents. Alfaz Hossain Rabi (RTV) and Md. Rakibul Hasan Tareq (Dhaka Mail) received the 'Best Reporter of the Year' crests. The 'Best Feature Writer' titles were awarded to Sabbir Rahman Rabbil (Dainik Edin) and Mahfuzul Islam (Channel i), while Md. Sabbir Ahmed (The Daily Campus) was named 'Emerging Reporter of the Year'. Immediate past general secretary Sheikh Sadi Bhuiyan and alumni correspondents were also felicitated.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahamudul Hasan, Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque Hasan, and Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Dr. Md. Rafiul Hasan addressed the session as special guests, joined by faculty deans, department heads, and campus media representatives.
