Meeting between DUET Vice-Chancellor and NPCBL Delegation

A delegation from the Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) paid a courtesy visit to Professor Dr. Mohammed Iqbal, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), and engaged in a discussion.

The meeting took place at DUET on Friday, May 22nd, where the delegation presented the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor with floral greetings and congratulations.

Discussions during the meeting centered on the country's energy security, environment-friendly technology, and sustainable development. Professor Dr. Mohammed Iqbal, the Vice-Chancellor, stated that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is a significant milestone in ensuring the country's energy security.

He added that in the context of increasing energy demand, global warming, and the limitations of natural resources, the development of science, engineering, and technology-based environment-friendly energy systems is the need of the hour.

The vice-chancellor further noted that Bangladesh needs to advance further in this sector through cooperation with developed countries and by creating skilled human resources. He mentioned that DUET's skilled graduates are already playing a vital role in various sectors, including power, energy, and communication. He also stated that many graduates are employed at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

He further added that DUET, as one of the leading engineering and technology universities in the country, will continue to play an important role in national development in the future, and there is scope for expanding joint collaboration with NPCBL.

Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Dr. Momtaz Begum, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Dr. Md. Obaydur Rahman, Director of IQAC, and teachers from various departments of DUET were present at the meeting.

The NPCBL delegation included Company Secretary S. Abdur Rashid FCS, Managers Md. Wazihur Rahman and Md. Abdus Sobhan, Senior Assistant Manager Md. Sohel Rana, Deputy Chief Superintendent S.M. Mahmud Arafat, and Human Resource Management Superintendent Md. Golam Shahinur Islam, among others.

In this context, NPCBL is a company owned by the government of Bangladesh, responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of future nuclear power plants, including the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
