Google has unveiled a special doodle to celebrate the arrival of 2026. From the first hour of January 1, users opening the Google homepage are greeted with a small animated GIF that reflects the spirit of the New Year. The doodle features a notebook marked “2026,” a pen, and a steaming cup of coffee, symbolizing fresh beginnings and thoughtful reflection.

In the animation, the first “O” of the Google logo transforms into various symbols representing wellness, creativity, and balance: a dumbbell for fitness, a spool of thread for creativity, a chef’s hat with salad for healthy living, and a heart-shaped coffee cup for warmth and comfort. Google describes the doodle as a “universal pause button,” encouraging viewers to pause, reflect, plan, and start the year with intention.

Clicking the doodle provides information on the global significance of January 1 and how different cultures celebrate the day. The 2026 doodle continues the tradition of Google’s New Year-themed animations, which began in 2005, with interactive elements and festive designs evolving over the years. Since 1998, when Google first introduced a special doodle, more than 5,000 doodles have been created.

With this New Year doodle, Google delivers a message of hope, positivity, and renewal to users worldwide, marking the start of 2026 on an optimistic note.
