Another Bangladeshi has made his mark on the global technology stage by joining the Board of Directors of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Sajid Rahman, a technology entrepreneur and Managing Partner of MyAsiaVC, has been elected Vice Chairman of ICANN. In addition to this role, he will also serve as Chairman of the organization’s Finance Committee.

The decision was formalized during ICANN’s recent Annual General Meeting. Rahman’s term as a board member, which began in 2022, will continue through 2028.

Sajid Rahman brings extensive experience across banking, healthcare, renewable energy, and technology sectors in both Asia and Africa. His appointment as Vice Chair of the ICANN Board is being hailed as a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s growing footprint in information technology and internet governance. From this global leadership position, Rahman is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening South Asia’s position in internet policy, domain name management, and digital governance.

As Chairman of ICANN’s Finance Committee, his financial and strategic leadership is expected to influence the organization’s budgetary priorities and long-term planning.

This achievement stands as a moment of pride for Bangladesh, underscoring the nation’s expanding role in global technology leadership and digital policymaking.
