Startup Showdown: Bangladesh’s Best to Battle at World Cup Stage

The United States–based Pegasus Tech Ventures organizes the Startup World Cup across more than 100 countries. On Thursday, August 14, the Bangladesh round of the ‘Startup World Cup’ will take place at the Ashulia campus of Daffodil International University (DIU). In this competition, the country’s top 15 startups will vie for victory.
The champion of the Bangladesh round will receive an investment of Tk 50,000 and a ticket to represent Bangladesh in the global final of the Startup World Cup, scheduled to be held in San Francisco, United States. In the grand finale of the Startup World Cup, the ultimate winner will be awarded 1 million US dollars.
Pegasus Tech Ventures Partner William Richert; SME Foundation Deputy Managing Director Md. Nazim Hasan Sattar; Director of SME Department at Bangladesh Bank Naushad Mustafa; Bangladesh Venture Capital Limited CEO Shawkat Hossain; Dhaka University Professors Rafiuddin Ahmed and Rakibul Kabir; and Exclusive Can Limited Managing Director Said Nasir will be serving as judges for the grand finale of the Bangladesh round.
Special guests will include Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC Chairman Mominul Islam, Daffodil Family Chairman Md. Sabur Khan, DIU Vice-Chancellor M. R. Kabir, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Masum Iqbal.
The competition in Bangladesh is being organized by the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University. Md. Kamruzzaman, Head of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is serving as the Country Director of the Bangladesh round of the Startup World Cup, with Ashiq Khan acting as the National Program Director.
