KC Model School, located in Prembagan, Dakkin Khan, Dhaka, made a remarkable impression in the second chapter of the ICT Olympiad Bangladesh, with three of its six finalists securing top positions, including Champion and Runners-up titles. All three awardees are students from the school’s English medium section.
In the class-based competition, second-grader Aymanur Rahman emerged as Champion, while third-grader Syed Adiyan Ehshan and eighth-grader Khan Zarif Al Nassib secured First Runner-up positions in their respective categories. Their achievements also earned their ICT teacher, Abdus Sattar, the “Best Guidance” award for exceptional mentorship.
Ayman received a certificate, crest, medal, a dummy cheque worth BDT 10,000, a health insurance package worth BDT 350,000, and a tablet. “He is now learning coding on that tablet,” said his father, Md. Gaziur Rahman. “After becoming Champion from second grade, Ayman's confidence has soared. He now aspires to become a software engineer.”
Speaking to the media, Aymanur Rahman added, “I got to know about the Olympiad from my school. Our teachers took special classes for us. That’s why I was able to win. After this victory, my parents are encouraging me even more.” When asked about Artificial Intelligence, and whether people will still need to develop apps and software if computers become smart enough to learn independently, Aymanur Rahman responded, “AI is created by humans, so humans will always be needed.”
Adiyan and Zarif were each awarded a dummy cheque worth BDT 7,000, a crest, a certificate, and health insurance worth BDT 250,000.
The mentor behind this success, Abdus Sattar, expressed, “This is the best recognition of my life. The students’ enthusiasm has been the main inspiration on this journey. Next year, we will prepare to participate on an even larger scale.” He is currently completing his thesis at MIST.
The final round of the ICT Olympiad was recently held at the campus of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). Before reaching the finals, students had to clear three phases, including three online tests through organizer-provided links and a written exam based on an advanced syllabus. Out of 10,000 participants from all 64 districts, 20 students from each class were selected for the semi-final, resulting in a total of 290 finalists. Among them, 39 were awarded as Champions and Runners-up from each class level.
KC Model School honoured all six finalists at a campus ceremony attended by adviser Brig. Gen. Mushfiqur Rahman, Principal Abdul Baten and other senior staff. “For developing the latent talents of pupils, undergoing co-curricular activities is the must,” Principal Baten said, pledging continued support for technology education.
ICT Olympiad Bangladesh founder Mohammad Shahriar Khan called the competition “a platform that nurtures the skills the next generation will need for a technology‑driven future.” Senior vice‑chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Nipu added, “We believe in the unfathomable potential found among the children of Bangladsh". ” Program co‑convenor Golam Sarwar described the Olympiad as “a mission to build the innovation and leadership qualities that will shape tomorrow’s Bangladesh.”
Winning projects included an AI‑driven water‑quality tester and a low‑cost method for neutralising toxins in electronic waste—solutions the students say could help safeguard health and the environment nationwide.
