Samsung Co-CEO Han Jong-Hee Passes Away, Leadership Transition Underway

Samsung Electronics' Co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Han Jong-Hee has passed away due to a cardiac arrest, the company announced on Tuesday. Following his demise, newly appointed CEO Jun Young-Hyun will now take sole leadership of the organization, according to a report by Reuters.

Han, 63, was appointed as CEO of Samsung in 2022 and was responsible for overseeing the company’s consumer electronics and mobile device divisions. He played a crucial role in elevating Samsung’s television business to a globally significant position.

Samsung has yet to decide on Han’s successor. Meanwhile, following the news of his death, the company's shares dropped by 0.5%, aligning with the broader South Korean market trend. Analysts suggest that Han’s sudden passing may have long-term implications for Samsung’s business strategy, particularly in marketing and household electronics.
