Students had fun with robots in Syedpur
A three-day workshop on robotics and intelligence was held in Syedpur. At least eight hundred students from 53 educational institutions had fun with robots in the three-day workshop at the local Dream Plus Hotel and Resort organized by the local 'Kichhu Kori' (Let’s do something) social organization.
The workshop, which concluded on Sunday, taught students the basics of building robots. Besides, after showing various topics including programming and coding of several robots made in the country, the rescue robots 'BRACU Alter' and 'BRACU Dwichari' made by the students of BRAC University were operated by the participating students.
On the final day of the workshop, it was seen that the hall was full of students but there was silence. All of them are focused on discussing robots. They were being taught the art of making robots. One of them, Firoz Kabir, an eleventh grade student of Syedpur Sunflower School and College, said, "If you want to survive in this technology-dependent world, you have to survive by competing. I want to work with robots in the future. I have learned a lot about robots by coming here. In the future I will try to make robots using this knowledge.”
Another student of Class X Jannatul Ferdous Meem, said she had seen robots on TV and in newspapers. Her longtime dream was that to see a robot in reality and with the idea she will build the robot himself.
Maisha Talukder, a class 9 student of Syedpur Lions’ School and College, Nilphamari, said that she wants to make a robot that will make life easier for people. It will be used in various hazardous works.
Like Maisha, pinki Roy, a class nine student of Dinajpur Nalbari High School, dreams of robotics. She wants to build a robot that cleans up the garbage on the roads and beautifies the environment.
Mokhsedul Momin, the founder of the organization and Chairman of Syedpur Upazila Parishad, said that the workshop was inaugurated virtually by Asaduzzaman Noor, Member of Parliament of Nilphamari-2 (Sadar) Constituency on Friday. The main speakers of the workshop were BRAC University teachers Raihana Sams Islam Antara, Abdullah-Hil Kafi, Syedpur Science College Principal Gholam Ahmed Farooq, Bangladesh Army Science and Technology University, Bangladesh Chief Engineer of ICT Division Md. Shaukat Ali and Nilfamari's son, Syedpur, Michigan University teacher, Robert Research Fellow Dr. Moqtadir Alam Arafat and several Robatians.
