High Court Halts Hiring of Technical Instructors

The High Court has suspended the recruitment of 3,500 Junior Instructors (Tech) or Physical Education Instructors (Grade 10) under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board for various polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges across the country. The court also issued a rule questioning the legality of the recruitment process.

The order was delivered on Monday, January 27, by a High Court bench led by Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal represented the petitioners in court, assisted by Advocate Maksud Ullah.

Barrister Kamal stated, “Their employment was scheduled to commence on January 29. However, due to the High Court’s suspension order, these 3,500 individuals will not be able to join their posts.”

Earlier, 18 candidates who were excluded from the recruitment process filed a writ petition seeking the cancellation of the appointments. The petition alleged irregularities in the recruitment examination, including question paper leaks and malpractice by an organized group led by one Abed Ali.

On November 26, 2024, the final results for the recruitment of Junior Instructors (Tech) or Physical Education Instructors (Grade 10) in 44 categories were published. The Public Service Commission (PSC) had recommended the appointment of 3,500 candidates in these positions.
